Tickets now on priority sale for the British Athletics’ 2019 indoor season
Birmingham well and truly becomes the home of athletics in the UK for February 2019 as both the SPAR British Athletics Indoor Championships and Muller Indoor Grand Prix Birmingham head to the Arena on consecutive weekends.
First up, and bringing Britain’s very best athletes together for two days of action, the SPAR British Athletics Indoor Championships takes place across the weekend of Saturday 9 – Sunday 10 February.
A weekend of action that sees 13 events take place for both female and male competitors with 26 British titles being awarded to victories athletes in events stretching from the 60m sprint to the pole vault and 5000m race walks.
Last time around the championships served to showcase some brilliant performances from a host of star names with Laura Muir dominating for her first ever British 3000m title, CJ Ujah and Asha Philp blitzing to the men’s and women’s 60m titles respectively, while Greg Rutherford and Katarina Johnson-Thompson leapt furthest to claim the men’s and women’s British long jump titles.
Further to British titles being decided, the championships are an event which doubles up as the trial event ahead of the major championships of each year’s indoor season – in 2019’s case the European Indoor Championships – with next February’s event will see fierce competition for places on the British team once again.
One week on from the championships, the world’s top track and field athletes will occupy the very same venue when the Muller Indoor Grand Prix Birmingham takes place on Saturday 16 February.
Ranked as the best one-day indoor meeting in the world, the Muller Indoor Grand Prix returns to Birmingham as it continues to alternate between the Arena Birmingham and the Emirates Arena in Glasgow through to 2020.
A meeting that has seen the likes of British stars Sir Mo Farah, Dina Asher-Smith and Laura Muir regularly appear alongside the world’s very best athletes, 2019’s event back in the UK’s second city will see more world-class head to heads take place as athletes bid to win as many points as possible in a bid to win the overall indoor series – the IAAF World Indoor Tour – which the Muller Indoor Grand Prix Birmingham sits as a part of.
Tickets for both events will go on priority sale at the best price from 10am on Thursday 18th October 2018, with general sale commencing at full price from 7am on Thursday 8th November 2018. Please note that to be eligible you will be a previous purchaser of tickets to a British Athletics event, following which you will have been contacted by British Athletics via email to notify you of the opening of the priority window.
