British Athletics Half Marathon Champs head to Nottingham
The British Athletics Half Marathon Championships take place in Nottingham on Sunday 24 September at the Robin Hood Half Marathon.
Leading the entries in the men’s field is Chris Thompson (coach: Mark Rowland, club: Aldershot, Farnham & District) who will be seeking to replicate a similar autumn / winter road season that he enjoyed in 2016 when he won the Great South Run and Great Birmingham Half Marathon. With bags of experience under his belt, he will be the favourite for the title in Nottingham.
Last year’s British half marathon silver medallist, local favourite Alistair Watson (Notts AC), is listed on the entries and could feature at the front of the field on his eighth appearance at this race. John Beattie (Andrew Hobdell, Newham & Essex Beagles) and Richard Horton (Peter Bailey, Shaftesbury Barnet) will be other athlete’s battling for the domestic honour.
Juliet Potter (Roy Stowell, Charnwood) will be the favourite for the women’s title on her first appearance at the Nottingham event. Amanda Crook (Southport Waterloo) and Jane Potter (Charnwood) are others who could feature, holding personal bests over the distance of 74:31 and 74:38 respectively.
